HEARTS OF GOLD
Hearts of Gold is a community fundraiser in East Grand Rapids where students, parents, educators, administrators, and community members come together to raise funds and generate awareness for a local nonprofit organization.
Beer City Dog Biscuits (BCDB) is honored to be the 13th nonprofit organization to be chosen as a Hearts of Gold partner.
BCDB is a nonprofit organization
Whose mission is to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by providing vocational training, employment, and community through the creation of delicious and nutritious dog biscuits. It was founded by EGR alums Suzanne (Schuler) Wilcox ‘80 and Leslie (Wiener) Hooker ‘83, who recognized a need for their sons, EGR alums Tanis ‘11 and Gavin ‘15, and the greater IDD community.
BCDB continuously considers “If there is a job to do, can a Brew Baker do it?”, which has provided an opportunity for IDD individuals in our community to learn, grow, and use their unique skills across the entire organization.
Since the beginning, the Hearts of Gold program has brought attention to the capacity of every individual, regardless of age, to make a positive difference. We are excited to continue that sentiment as Hearts of Gold, EGR, and Beer City Dog Biscuits team up to support the IDD community!
